Frisco Real Estate

Frisco Real Estate

On Hatteras Island, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the tiny hamlet of Frisco lies between Buxton and Hatteras Village. The maritime forests surrounding Frisco give the community some of the unique character that distinguishes it from its neighboring villages. There are also many similarities. Like the others, Frisco is not incorporated. Also like the others, it had a different name before the U.S. Post Office changed it in 1898. The Post Office officials felt it would be confused with Trent Woods, a town in Craven County.

An early point of pride was a tiny airstrip at Frisco that General Billy Mitchell used in 1923 to demonstrate how bombing runs could be used to defend the nation. The compelling proof he offered was the impetus necessary to create the United States Air Force.

Today, the permanent residents of Frisco real estate number about 400 who welcome thousands of visitors each season to enjoy the wind, the surf and the magnificent beaches of Hatteras Island.
